Version 2026-07-19 · SoloNova LLC, a New Mexico limited liability company
1. The short version
Segno stores the minimum it needs to run a music studio: who is in it, when lessons happen, what students are practicing, and whether lessons are paid. We don’t run ads, we don’t sell data, and card numbers never touch our systems. Children under 13 never create their own accounts — their records are managed by a parent or teacher.
2. What we collect
Account holders (teachers, parents, students 13+): name, email, optional phone number, password (stored as a hash by our authentication provider), your role, and your settings.
Student records (created by a teacher or parent): first and last name, instrument, school, and grade. We deliberately do not collect birth dates.
Studio activity: lesson schedules, attendance, assignments, practice sessions (duration, tempo, ratings, notes), and messages to the teacher in requests.
Payments: amounts, dates, status, payment method type, and — for payments recorded by the teacher — an optional note. Card numbers and bank details are collected and stored by Stripe, our payment processor; we never see them.
3. Children under 13
Segno accounts are for people 13 and older. A student under 13 cannot sign up: their lesson records are created by their teacher or their parent/legal guardian, who controls what is stored. We collect no more about an under-13 student than the record described above (name, instrument, school, grade, and lesson/practice activity), we never contact students under 13 directly, and we never use children’s data for marketing.
A parent or legal guardian may review their child’s information in the app, correct it through the teacher, or request deletion at any time (in-app or via support@solonova.io). If we learn a child under 13 created an account directly, we will delete it.
4. How we use information
To run the product: scheduling, practice tracking, payment processing and receipts, lesson reminders you opt into, and support. That’s it. We do not sell personal information, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not use it to train AI models.
5. Who can see what
Visibility follows your studio connections: teachers see their roster and those students’ activity; parents see their own children; students see their own data. Contact details are shared only inside a studio relationship (a teacher sees family contacts; families see the teacher’s). Every table in our database enforces these rules at the database layer, not just in the app.
Service providers who process data for us: Supabase (database and authentication), Stripe (payments), Resend (email), and our hosting providers. Each receives only what its function requires. We disclose information if the law genuinely requires it.
6. Retention and deletion
Data is kept while your account is active. You can delete your account in Settings; personal data is removed, and any practice history that remains part of a family’s or studio’s records is de-identified. Payment records are retained as required for financial and tax obligations.
7. Security
Data is encrypted in transit; access is controlled by row-level security in the database; payment credentials live exclusively with Stripe (PCI-DSS Level 1). No system is perfectly secure — if a breach affects your data, we will notify you promptly as required by law.
8. Your choices and rights
You can access and update your information in the app, export what you see, control notification emails in Settings, and delete your account. Depending on your state, you may have additional rights to access, correct, or delete personal information — email support@solonova.io and we will honor them regardless of which state you live in. Segno is offered in the United States and is not directed to users elsewhere.
9. Changes and contact
If this policy materially changes, we will notify account holders and update the version date above. Contact: SoloNova LLC — support@solonova.io.
