Terms of Service
Version 2026-07-19 · SoloNova LLC, a New Mexico limited liability company
1. Who we are, and what Segno is
Segno is a software platform operated by SoloNova LLC, a New Mexico limited liability company (“SoloNova,” “we,” “us”). Segno helps independent music teachers run their studios — scheduling, practice tracking, assignments, and payments — and helps students and families stay connected to their teacher.
By creating an account or using Segno, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Segno.
2. Teachers are independent — Segno is a tool, not a party
Teachers on Segno are independent businesses. They are not employees, agents, contractors, or representatives of SoloNova. Teachers set their own prices, schedules, teaching methods, and refund and cancellation policies, and are solely responsible for the lessons they provide, for their own taxes, and for complying with laws that apply to their business.
SoloNova does not vet, endorse, supervise, or run background checks on teachers, students, or families. Choosing a teacher — including whatever screening a family considers appropriate — is between the family and the teacher. Your lesson relationship is with your teacher; Segno provides the software that supports it.
3. Accounts and eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to create a Segno account, and you must provide accurate information. Students under 13 do not create accounts; their lesson records are created and managed by their parent or legal guardian and their teacher, as described in our Privacy Policy.
You are responsible for your login credentials and for activity on your account. If you connect a child’s records to your account, you represent that you are that child’s parent or legal guardian.
4. Payments and fees
Payments on Segno are processed by Stripe, Inc. Card details are collected and stored by Stripe — Segno never sees or stores card numbers. By saving a card you authorize charges for completed lessons under your teacher’s pricing, and you agree to Stripe’s consumer terms. Teachers receiving payouts agree to the Stripe Connected Account Agreement.
Our fee structure: the lesson price you agree with your teacher goes to your teacher in full. When you pay by card, two amounts are added at checkout: a payment processing fee (Stripe’s cost of moving the money) and a Segno service fee (SoloNova’s platform fee). The service fee is what keeps Segno’s practice tools free for every student. Both amounts are shown before and after you are charged. Payments made outside Segno (cash, check, Venmo, and similar) are between you and your teacher; Segno only records them and adds no fees.
Refunds follow your teacher’s policy. Card refunds are processed back through Stripe. Payments made outside Segno are settled outside Segno.
Chargebacks: if a card payment to a teacher is disputed and reversed, the teacher authorizes SoloNova to recover the disputed amount and associated dispute fees from the teacher’s pending or future payouts or connected-account balance.
5. Your content and practice data
Practice logs, assignments, notes, and similar content belong to the people who create them. You give SoloNova the limited license needed to store, display, and share that content with the people your studio connections allow — that is the product working as intended — and for nothing else.
6. Acceptable use
Don’t misuse Segno: no unlawful activity, no accessing data that your studio connections don’t give you, no scraping, no interfering with the service, no impersonation, and no using Segno to harass anyone. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
7. Termination
You can delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or close accounts for violations of these Terms, legal risk, or extended non-payment of platform fees. Teachers’ obligations for charges, refunds, and chargebacks that arose before closure survive it.
8. Disclaimers and limits on liability
Segno is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. SoloNova is not responsible for the conduct of teachers, students, or families, for the quality or safety of lessons, or for disputes between users.
To the fullest extent allowed by law, SoloNova’s total liability for any claim arising out of Segno is limited to the platform fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. SoloNova is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages.
You agree to indemnify SoloNova against claims arising from your use of Segno in violation of these Terms or of the law.
9. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Mexico, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before filing any claim, you agree to contact us at support@solonova.io and give us 30 days to work it out informally. Either party may bring qualifying claims in small claims court.
10. Changes
We may update these Terms as Segno evolves. For material changes we will notify account holders (by email or in-app) and update the version date above; continued use after the effective date is acceptance. The version you accepted is recorded on your account.
